But it seems to fit in with the music exec thing - They only want to support their music provided they get money off it - like before, what they want or believe doesn't matter, just as long as they get their sweet sweet cash. So I'm told: At least, that 's what they think. 'Cause they know, who is righteous, what is bold: The music execs are the ones in power, they know when a band is good, they know what music is bold and new. However, sounds like Corgan knew that they were being made fools of, often being told what to do - Today was initially chosen by the music execs to be the first song off the album - Corgan chose otherwise. Stay cool, and be somebody's fool this year: They were new to the whole major label thing, they had to play it cool. I just thought that the lines "doesn't matter what you believe in" just relating to that, the music industry being so critical of what they do, that what they (the band) believes takes no precedence, it's no longer up to them. Apparently, they were never really considered indie by most indie bands, that they were "careerists" from the start. Other songs on Help!, such as Lennon's " You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" and the title track, also exhibit compositional growth. The line "trying to get to you" (the title of an early Elvis Presley song recorded for Sun Records, which served as inspiration for McCartney and George Harrison's composition " In Spite of All the Danger") reflects the band's continued love of early rock and roll. This is not the first time the Beatles had used additional percussion instruments to flesh out their sound, having done so as early as " Don't Bother Me" in 1963.Įvident in the song's structure and instrumentation are the Beatles' then growing folk influence, with lyrics more mature and reflective than was standard in their earlier output. The instrument is featured on two other tracks on Help!: " You Like Me Too Much" and " The Night Before", both recorded the day before "Tell Me What You See." Ringo Starr's drumming on the track is augmented with a trio of percussion instruments a güiro, a tambourine, and a pair of claves.
